"Complaint Handling, Excellence in Public Services and the Value of Consumers" - 1 day conference

Jim Martin, Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (a CAS customer since 2002) was the keynote speaker at a conference on Complaint Handling, Excellence in Public Services and the Value of Consumers, held by Mackay Hannah Ltd. in Edinburgh on Friday 4 December 2009. CAS was delighted to sponsor this event.

CAS Charity Draw

Throughout 2009 CAS has held a Monthly Charity Draw. CAS has been delighted to make contributions to: Shelter, Help the Aged, the 17th West Lothian Scout Group, 500 Miles, Help for Heroes, Diabetes UK, Whizz-Kidz, the National Youth Choir for Scotland, Love Russia, RNLI, Marie-Curie Cancer Care and MacMillan Cancer Support. Thank you to all those who have suggested these worthwhile charities.

NATO exercise Loyal Arrow

CAS won a significant contract with the Swedish Procurement Agency (FMV) to provide Electronic Warfare training systems as part of NATO exercise Loyal Arrow 09 which took place in Sweden in June this year. Following extremely tight implementation timescales, the CAS developed Command and Control system went operational on the 8th June 2009. It worked flawlessly 24/7 throughout the NATO exercise. CAS Music Scholarships

As part of CAS' commitment to support the local community, CAS has established two new music scholarships at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. These residential scholarships will allow talented musicians to take part in the University's Musician in Residence programme and will give students the opportunity to develop their confidence, enhance their skills and contribute to the cultural life of Heriot-Watt University.

CAS staff appointments

CAS' business continues to expand and we are delighted to welcome "the two John's". John Nicholson joins CAS as a Software Developer and will help strengthen our growing Workpro technical team. The second John, John McGaff, is a Test Engineer and will be responsible for improving test processes and overseeing all test activities within CAS.

ISO 14001 Environmental certification

CAS has achieved ISO 14001 certification as part of our commitment to make a positive contribution to environmental issues. CAS operates a sustainable procurement strategy and the management and staff continually look to reduce consumption and waste by reusing and recycling resources, where possible, and by reduction of resource use at source.

The newly formed Older People's Commission for Wales (OPCW) has selected Workpro as their core business system.

LGO Business Process Re-engineering

Following on from the successful implementation of Workpro at the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO), CAS and its partner IPL have been selected to carry out a Business Process Re-engineering project for the organisation.

Historic Scotland selects Workpro for new integrated Casework Planning system

Historic Scotland has selected the Workpro Case Management system from CAS in order to drive forward its programme of modernisation, including the support for e-planning and e-consultation. The CAS solution supports staff throughout the organisation in a variety of roles including planning, consultation and FOI casework.

Scottish Public Services Ombudsman Upgrades to Workpro

The Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) has chosen to upgrade its core complaints handling system to Workpro. The system will go live 1st April 2009. CAS has had a long association with the SPSO who have been using the CHAS - Complaints Handling Administration System, since its offices first opened.
